Fundraising dinner planned to honor fallen DART officer from Royse City

(ROYSE CITY, TX – July 8, 2016) A Prayer Circle will be held at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 8, at the Royse City Police Department parking lot, following last night’s tragedy in Dallas.

The Royse City Chamber of Commerce has also announced that a Night of Honor and Hope fundraising dinner is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at Big Sky Event Hall, 7508 County Road 2584 in Royse City, to honor fallen DART police officer Brent Thompson of Royse City, who died at the hands of a sniper in downtown Dallas, and to recognize all Royse City first responders. Police, fire, and paramedics will be honored with a dinner, program, police officer and firefighter awards ceremony, silent auction, and guest speaker. Thompson is the first DART officer to die in the line of duty in its 27-year history. He joined the force in 2009; before that, he was a police officer in Corsicana, TX. Three other DART officers were also injured that night.
