(ROCKWALL, TX – Aug. 30, 2016) Dallas Police Department Assistant Chief Gary Tittle will be the guest speaker at a 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by Rest Haven Memorial Park and Rockwall Independent School District.
The community event, marking the 15th Anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, will honor the lives of the first responders killed in the line of duty that day and bring special honor to our local first responders. The ceremony will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, Sept. 9 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. Other event participants include Rockwall County Sheriff Harold Eavenson, Rockwall Police Chief Kirk Riggs, Rockwall Fire Chief Mark Poindexter, Heath DPS Director Terry Garrett, the Rockwall Police Department Honor Guard and the Amy Parks-Heath Starlight Singers.
“Remembering the terrorist attacks of September 11th and honoring the sacrifice of first responders, makes it especially meaningful to welcome Assistant Chief Tittle from the Dallas Police Department’s Command Staff,” said Dewayne Cain, President of Rest Haven Funeral Homes and Memorial Park. “The killing of Dallas police officers in July was, and still is, a sobering reminder that our first responders put their lives on the line every day to protect us and we owe them our deepest gratitude and respect.”
Assistant Chief Tittle is a 29-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department and currently oversees the Strategic Deployment Bureau, which includes SWAT, Traffic, Love Field, Gang and the Criminal Intelligence Unit. Chief Tittle’s past assignments include the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Units, and the Internal Affairs Division and Public Integrity Unit. Since 2007, he has served in the dual role of Legislative Coordinator for the Department. Chief Tittle received his Bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University and a Master’s in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University.
Cain expressed his appreciation to Rockwall ISD for their event partnership. “We are grateful to Superintendent Villarreal and the entire RISD leadership for partnering with Rest Haven on this event,” Cain said. “It is a privilege for us to help pass down the history of 9-11 to local students, and to help instill in them a deep appreciation and respect for our first responders,” he added. Rest Haven appreciates additional event support from Coldspring Granite and Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company.
