(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 16, 2016) To honor first responders everywhere, Rockwall ISD, along with Rest Haven Funeral Home, recognized first responders at a pre-game ceremony prior to the Rockwall High School versus Carroll High School football game on September 9.
“Through this remembrance ceremony, we will send a message to the world,” said Dr. Courtney Gober, principal of Rockwall High School. “We the people of the United States of America stand united as a community and a nation celebrating democracy in the land of the free and home of the brave.”
First responders in uniform were admitted to the game for free and were also invited to come on the field during the ceremony to be recognized.
The Rockwall community was able to participate in the event as well, by submitting photos of local first responders that were displayed in a slideshow during the singing of “God Bless America” by the Amy Parks-Heath Starlight Singers.
