Royse City ISD receives highest accountability rating on STAAR exams

(ROYSE CITY, TX  — Sept. 8, 2016) Each Royse City ISD campus received a “met standard” rating on the most recent administration of the state accountability exams. That is the highest rating issued by the state. Royse City ISD is pleased to announce that student averages exceed the state in nearly every subject area tested.

“When it comes to academics and innovation, Royse City ISD is a destination district,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “STAAR scores and other accountability measures are helpful tools in calculating academic growth, but we are even more proud of the successes that our students display every day. Congrats to our students, staff and parents for these high marks.”

Reading and math were notable areas of success for students across all grades. More than 90% of students in Royse City ISD’s 3rd, 5th and 6th grades met math standards. State averages in those same grades for math were below 74% for each grade. Data release by the state also shows the percentage of students who perform at advanced levels on these assessments. The numbers of students achieving advanced performance in Royse City ISD were at or higher than the state in 14 of 22 areas.
