Texas Health Rockwall Earns All A’s Since 2013
(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 31, 2016) Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall has once again earned an “A” in patient safety by The Leapfrog Group. The hospital has been awarded Straight “A’s” since 2013 and is one of only 113 hospitals to attain this honor nationwide.
Texas Health Rockwall was built ten years ago on a foundation of quality care. Today, the hospital continues its mission to be a High Reliability Organization (HRO) following the lead of the military and airlines where strong processes and tight controls help mitigate risk. Kerry Baucom, Senior Director of Quality and Risk explains, “We have spent lengthy amounts of time training staff at all levels and in all positions so that the potential for a safety event can be recognized, addressed and prevented. The goal for our hospital is to be pro-active rather than reactive and empowering our staff helps ensure safety is the guiding factor for every patient in every process.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses publicly available hospital data to assign grades of A, B, C, D or F to over 2600 hospital twice a year. The grades are calculated by patient safety experts, peer-reviewed and are made available free of charge to the public. These grades allow patients to evaluate the health care offerings in their community to make better decisions and ask important questions for the health and safety of their family, friends and loved ones.
