(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 5, 2016) In the 1970’s, Chandlers Landing community on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall was developed as a high-end, energetic tennis, swim, yacht and residential community. Its social calendar centered around a junior Olympic pool, seven tennis courts, a marina, and an avant-garde club house building large enough to host three weddings while still providing bar and restaurant services for the residents. The property is nearly nine wooded acres overlooking the marina. In 1989, the development company sold the club property and marina. Since then, the marina ownership was split off, and the real estate has had several owners who have had varying degrees of success.
On December 28, 2015, the clubhouse went dark, and the Chandlers Landing community lost its’ gathering spot. A committee was formed to evaluate the matter, and it soon began focusing on the wisdom and advisability of CLCA becoming the owner to reunite the community with this central amenity. After countless hours of time dedicated by the committee and by the CLCA staff a contract offer was approved and signed. Chandlers Landing Community Association proudly announces that, on Friday, November 4th, 2016, CLCA became the owner of the property at 501 Yacht Club Drive in the heart of Chandlers Landing. It once again will be the social focus of the community.
Committees have been formed to help return these facilities to the stature of the past, with some initial renovations, some landscaping, and some use planning committees already formed and hard at work. The tennis courts are available to the tennis community now, the large pool will be available for residents soon, and the search is now under way for a capable primary tenant for the bar, restaurant and event aspects of the property. The building offers unmatched views of the sunset glimmering to the west across the Lake Ray Hubbard. Anyone seeking information about any aspect of the project may call the CLCA office at (972) 771-1593.
The CLCA Board believes that this acquisition will be a significant and positive change enhancing property value and the quality of life in Chandlers Landing. The effort has been community-wide, and the future looks bright from the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall.
