(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 22, 2017) In announcing his candidacy, Daniels stated he was honored to have previously served Rockwall as a Council member for four years and he would likewise be honored given the opportunity to serve again. He was first elected in 2011 and again in 2013, running unopposed.
During his previous tenure as a Council member, Daniels demonstrated his fiscal conservative values, straight forward approach to issues, dedication to managed growth, and availability to Rockwall residents. He was proactive in supporting the Police and Fire Departments to provide a safer place in Rockwall to live, work and play. He pledged, if elected, he would continue to serve Rockwall with the same principles and values.
Daniels said his major concerns for Rockwall were fiscal responsibility, safety, infrastructure, quality of life, continuation of strategic planning, managed residential and commercial development and enhancing volunteer opportunities.
Daniels has been active in the Rockwall community for many years. He previously served on the YMCA Board of Directors and chaired the Sustaining Fund Campaign. He also served on the Rockwall County Helping Hands Board of Directors and was Chairman for five consecutive years. He was a founding member of the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary and is a member of the Rockwall Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol.
In 1979, Daniels and his wife, Gloria were one of the seven families from First Baptist Church Rockwall who founded Lake Pointe Church. They now attend First Baptist Church where Daniels has served in various leadership positions.
After 21 years of ownership, Daniels retired in 2006 from his insurance agency in Rockwall. Prior to owning his own business, he was employed in Dallas at the U. S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census as Assistant Regional Director. He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in Business.
Bennie and his wife, Gloria, have lived in Rockwall for over 39 years. They are proud parents of two grown sons and three grandchildren.
