Celebration of Life: Services for Joanne Elizabeth (Grischy) Stranne

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 13, 2017) Joanne Elizabeth (Grischy) Stranne, age 83 of Rockwall, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2017. She was born on October 10, 1933 ,in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John and Bertha (Reitzes) Grischy. After raising their family in Columbus, Ohio, Joanne and her husband moved to Rockwall 20 years ago. Joanne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first! She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and was a regular fan at any and all events in Rockwall. She was always their biggest fan and supporter! Born and raised in Cincinnati, Joanne was a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan and could rattle off the team lineups and statistics for many of the teams.

Growing up in Cincinnati, she attended the prestigious Walnut Hills High School. Joanne then went on to get her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Cincinnati. Joanne, while at a church service in Cincinnati, would meet her future husband. She was working for Proctor and Gamble at the time in one of her most enjoyable jobs that enabled her to travel the country. Moving to Columbus shortly after their marriage in 1960, she alternated working as a full-time mother with working as the office manager for Lance, Inc.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Stranne. Also survived by daughter: Sandra and her husband, Dr. Bart Miller and their children Wyatt, Grant and Josephine of Rockwall; son: Dr. Steven Stranne and his wife Cathy and their children Jason and Emily of McLean, Virginia; her beloved big brother: John Grischy of Palos Verdes, California; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Priscilla and Ralph Kinney. Joanne is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Jeanette Grischy Pratte; and brothers: Robert and Thomas Grischy.

An uplifting Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at First Christian Church, 3375 Ridge Road in Rockwall. As an alternative to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the J.E.R Chilton YMCA, 1210 N. Goliad Street, Rockwall, Texas 75087.
