Dana K Macalik

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 23, 2017) Dana K Macalik, community leader and 5th generation Rockwall resident, has announced her candidacy for Rockwall City Council, Place 5 in the May 6, 2017 election.

Macalik currently serves as President of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, and said she looks forward to continuing to serve her hometown by adding another voice of leadership and expertise to City Council.

“In my position at the Chamber, my focus has been on growing a strong local economy and promoting our community – principles which are fundamental to City Council leadership. I am a fiscal conservative, and I am ready to go to work on the policies that are necessary to maintain the strong economic condition of our city, and to ensure our strong future,” said Macalik. “My goal as a City Councilmember is to be a servant leader at City Hall, making intelligent decisions and finding solutions that will protect Rockwall’s future.  I believe this starts with keeping Rockwall on a solid financial footing.  I want our city services and facilities to be the best in the Metroplex, and I believe we can achieve this by being fiscally responsible and by guarding against overspending.

She added, “As a 40+ year resident, I’ve developed a deep and abiding love for Rockwall, and I take great pride in this community. My key desire on Council is to be a part of the decision-making process that ensures future generations will have a solid foundation to enjoy what past leaders in this community have crafted.  I have the experience and determination necessary to lead this city into the future through hard work, dedication, and fiscally responsible economic decisions.  It is my commitment to use open lines of communication, and invite the input of more citizens in our decision-making process.”

Macalik has an accomplished record of volunteer involvement in our community.  She has served in various leadership roles and organizations including:  Rockwall Noon Rotary Club (Program Chair, Scholarship Selection Committee, Hot Rocks, Bikes for Kids); Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall County (past board member); Relay For Life –Rockwall (Advisory board member, Communications, Fundraising, and Advocacy); Rubber Duck Regatta; Helping Hands; and Leadership Rockwall Class of 2013. For years she has maintained a solid working relationship with Rockwall ISD—supporting community and economic development, work force education, mentoring, as a parent volunteer, and being active in the recent school bond referendum.

Macalik has earned leadership positions on the Board of Directors with Texas Association of Business, Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and North Texas Chamber Executives. She has over 25 years experience in Sales, Marketing and Management.  She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a B.A. in Business and an emphasis in Marketing-Management.  In 2015 she earned her I.O.M. from the US Chamber of Commerce-at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles for Organizational Management.

Macalik is married to Jeff Macalik, has four grown children, and a first grandchild who joined the family last year.  Three sons are RISD graduates, and Macalik credits their excellent education to the district, which supports better job perspectives. Macalik believes that education is the best way to move our economy forward.  Her oldest son, daughter-in-law and grandson also make Rockwall their home.  She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockwall.
