(ROCKWALL, TX – April 30, 2017) Senior Dylan Redig was among a select group of North Texas students to earn a YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation college scholarship. He and 19 other college-bound students were honored at the 37th Annual YMCA College Scholarship Awards Ceremony held April 27 at the T. Boone Pickens YMCA in Downtown Dallas.
Since 1981, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has awarded nearly $4 million for education scholarships to young adults from the Dallas and North Texas area. Last year, the foundation supported 60 student scholarship recipients with $109,000 in funding.
Dylan was awarded the Dye Foundation Scholarship following a rigorous application and interview process. Dye Scholarships are awarded based on motivation, academic achievement, and financial need. A volunteer scholarship selection team organized the process and selected the recipients.
Dylan has been a longtime member and volunteer at the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall – and for the past two years of high school, he has worked at the Rockwall Y as a Wellness Coach and Guest Services Representative.
