(ROCKWALL, TX — June 6, 2017) Four newly-elected council members were sworn in at the Rockwall city council meeting on Monday, June 5. State Representative Justin Holland (R-Heath) conducted the swearing in of council members Bennie Daniels (Place 1), Kevin Fowler (Place 3), Dana K. Macalik (Place 5) and Jim Pruitt (Mayor). The council also voted unanimously to appoint council member John Hohenshelt as Mayor Pro Tem.
Former 2011-15 city councilman Bennie Daniels won Place 1, where incumbent David White had reached term limits, over Enid Reyes and Bree McCleskey. Incumbent Kevin Fowler easily won over candidates Adan “Adam” Tovar and Daniel Janik for Place 3, and Rockwall Chamber of Commerce President Dana K. Macalik won her bid for Place 5 over incumbent Scott Milder and candidate A. Christine Hanna.
A total of nine contestants ran for three places on the council, with Mayor Jim Pruitt running unopposed.
