‘Most successful REF fundraiser in years’
(ROCKWALL, TX – June 5, 2017) Over 180 people attended the inaugural “REF Bowling Classic”presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe on May 13 in support of the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation, which raises awareness and funds to enrich the education of RISD students.
The tournament, which took place at Shenaniganz “Z” Lounge, raised almost $20,000 through team registrations, ticket sales, sponsorships and silent auction sales, making it the most successful REF fundraiser in several years.
The 22 teams competed for bragging rights along with one of four awards presented at the end of the event. Jared Schweers of Key Element Media and Young Professionals of Rockwall and his team won the “Grand Champion” trophy; “Most Stylish Bowling Attire” was awarded to the team representing Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe; “Most Creative Team Name” honors went to Daniel Wandrey’s (colon and rectal surgeon) team Rectum, Darn Near Killed ‘Em and the award for “Most Spirited Team” went to the Frisky Flamingos.
“It was the goal of the Education Foundation’s board of directors to host an event that offers something different than what our community typically sees. The participation, at every level, far exceeded our expectations. At the end of the evening when you have people asking when next year’s tournament is and there are already sponsors and teams ready to commit to the 2018 event, you know it was a success,” said Ashlei Neill, Executive Director of the Education Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful to all the sponsors and silent auction donors who played a major role in the success of the tournament, especially our friends at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe for being the presenting sponsor of our inaugural event.”
Along with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe, other sponsors of the event included Farmers Electric Cooperative, Guaranty Bank & Trust, Hudson Financial Group, K&S Insurance, Oncor, Beazer Homes and Rest Haven Funeral Home.
The wide selection of items donated for the silent auction were generously provided by: American National Bank, Bashful Beauty, Belfiore, Body Synergie, Becky Burkett, Chick-fil-A, dp Aerial Photography & Videography, Jamie Jacks-Allegiance Title, Kaci Spampinato Photography, Lush Hair by Chandler Leath, Planet Fitness-Rockwall, Rockwall Flower & Design, Rockwall Health Center-Dr. Sean Jamalabadi, Rockwall ISD, Rockwall School of Music, Rockwall Sports Center, Shanks Jewelers, Smoothie King, Josh Sparks, Cindy Tayem, The Flower Box, David Warren, Kevin Weable, Brady Wilson-K&S Insurance and Shana & Mark Young.
