(ROCKWALL, TX – June 13, 2017) Rockwall LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) president Sol Villasana will be on a panel organized by the Rockwall County Democratic Party to discuss Senate Bill 4 (SB4), the law recently signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott aimed at so-called “sanctuary cities.” Also on the panel will be Rockwall Chief of Police Kirk Riggs, Rockwall County Sheriff Harold Eavenson, and Texas ACLU representative Joe Swanson. The event will be free and open to the public and begin at 9:00 AM, Saturday, June 17, 2017, and be held at the Harry Myers Park Recreation Center, 815 E. Washington Street, Rockwall, Texas.
“There are serious concerns that SB4 will undo decades of building trust between Hispanics and Texas law enforcement agencies, and lead to the wide-scale, unconstitutional profiling of Latinos. Rather than helping public safety, SB4 will undermine public safety,” said Villasana.
