(HEATH/ROCKWALL, TX – Aug. 30, 2017) Our hearts are heavy for the victims that are dealing with Hurricane Harvey. The more people that I speak with I realize just how many of us have family and friends that are living through this tragic event. Many of you probably have loved ones that live in or around the Houston area as I do, and I believe that we should step up and help.
The Fulton School is small, however, I have personally seen our school and our families do amazing things for those in need. I am calling out to all of you for your help and support of our efforts in gathering items to provide for the evacuation shelters throughout the DFW area. Well after the storm passes the true struggle and hard work will begin as those effected will attempt to restore their lives and their homes. I have always been a huge advocate of teaching our children “life lessons” and just how influential those lessons can be. I believe that as a school and as educators in this community we have a platform that allows us to help in ways that most cannot. Beginning today, The Fulton School will be a Hurricane Relief Donation Drop-off center. We would love for all Fulton families and anyone that you know to participate in this chance to show what our school is capable of doing for others.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It is simple. Please purchase any of the items on the list below and drop them off in the office at The Fulton School, 1626 Smirl Drive in Heath, 75032. Our office hours are from 8:00am – 4:00pm. Once we have accumulated a large amount of donations we will deliver them to the evacuation shelters in Dallas.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE TIME TO GO SHOPPING FOR THESE ITEMS?
I understand that between work, school, extracurricular activities and life, your time is very limited. If you do not have the time to get out and shop for the items listed below, don’t worry you can still help! We will accept gift card donations and our PTO will use those gift cards to purchase the items most needed for the shelters. If you choose to donate gift cards we prefer they be Costco, Target, Kroger, Walmart, etc.
LIST OF ITEMS NEEDED MOST:
– Graco Pac n’ Plays for babies to sleep in
– New underwear
– New socks
– New clothes for men, women, children and infants
– Toiletries/Hygiene products
– Baby wipes
– Baby formula
– Baby bottles
– Diapers
– Non-perishable foods
– Air mattresses
– Blankets
Again, I know that we may be a small school but with everyone chipping in just a little bit we can do some BIG things! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for stepping up when it matters most. I challenge all of our students and parents to participate in this donation drive.
