(HEATH, TX — September 25, 2017) Rockwall-Heath’s Student Council led students, staff and the community in a Hurricane Harvey fundraiser. Over the past 3 weeks, Stuco, led by Advisor Kaci Spampinato and President Brooke Graves, went into action to help those affected by Harvey. As a school and community, they were able to collect the following items (to name a few!):
- 250 cases of water
- 100+ packages of diapers & wipes
- Several cases of baby formula
- 500+ trash bags
- School supplies
- Cleaning supplies
- Wheelchair
Their first load was distributed to first responders in the Beaumont area, delivered by Brady Z. Hill who owns State Farm Insurance in Rockwall. The second load, delivered this week, went to schools in Beaumont and Orange. Brady’s wife, former RHHS teacher, Savannah Hill, Ben McMillain of Hazel & Olive Boutique and his friend Mike Perry (all the way from Kansas!) took down the second load. The diapers, wipes and formula went to the CPS Rainbow room for foster children.
Stuco has teamed up with RHHS football this week and are selling a limited edition Heath football shirt at all lunches. All profits will be given to a high school student council in one of those areas to help with the schools needs.
Special thanks to the following organizations:
- Spanish National Honor Society for donating $500 work of items.
- FCCLA, PALS & Student Leadership students for bringing in numerous items
- The students and staff at Rockwall Heath for donating
