(ROCKWALL, TX – Dec. 1, 2017) The City of Rockwall is now expanding the level of transparency and accessibility to its nearly 43,000 residents. The City has contracted with Dallas-based Swagit Productions to provide hands-free video streaming of key public meetings. The Rockwall City Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Parks & Recreation Board, and Historic Preservation Advisory Board meetings will be available via the City’s website, live as the meetings take place, or on-demand once the meeting is completed.
“It was a unanimous decision for the City Council to provide this service for our residents,” said Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt. “We continually strive to increase transparency within the City of Rockwall. This technology will undoubtedly provide a useful tool to enhance our citizens’ access to their local government.”
The City’s growth was a factor in this decision. “As one of the fastest growing cities in the Dallas Metroplex, the City of Rockwall is among an increasing number turning to this technology to help heighten their transparency,” said David Alex Owusu, Swagit’s Director of Streaming Media. “By utilizing our services, Rockwall residents will be even better informed with more direct access to their City.” Residents can view indexed live and archived meetings from the City of Rockwall’s website under the meetings and agendas tab.
