(ROCKWALL, TX – Dec. 5, 2017) Strategic plan initiatives of both the Rockwall Fire and Police Departments have resulted in increased public safety and security enhancements in the City. The strategic planning program, led by the Rockwall City Council, began about a year ago. Results presented to the Council in a recent work session highlighted the program’s successes.
Within the past year, the Rockwall Police Department has noted an overall decrease in both property crime and traffic accidents. A big factor in success has been the department’s efforts to heighten residents’ awareness about potential crimes and ways to prevent becoming a victim. Outreach has included the Property Identification Program, Citizens on Patrol, Rockwall Clergy and Police Partnership (RCAPP), and the Park, Walk and Talk initiative, just to name a few. All these have received great feedback from the community.
The Rockwall Fire Department has also recorded successes, working with the community to increase awareness and safety among residents. The department developed the Community Risk Reduction Plan to help identify and prioritize potential fire risks. Through this program, the department has been able to identify high-risk circumstances, determine hazards, build partnerships, improve safety, and form more effective strategies.
