(ROCKWALL, TX — January 4, 2018) On December 31st, 2017, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Texas hosted their 3rd annual Masquerade Gala at the Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront, benefiting the Rockwall Club.
The Rockwall Club serves over 500 youth per year and hosts up to 126 kids per day, providing a safe, productive place for youth to go during out of school hours. The Club focuses on programs that build good character and citizenship, promote healthy lifestyles, and increase academic success for all members that walk through our doors.
This year, the Masquerade Gala was able to raise enough funds to fully support over 50 youth for an entire year at the Rockwall Club.
The New Year’s Eve Masquerade Gala boasted a full dinner catered by the Hilton, a live auction, Emcee by David Sweet, live entertainment by Random Axis Band, casino tables sponsored by Southwest Kia with grand prize sponsored by Lindsay Mitchell, Realtor, a dessert & coffee bar sponsored by the Dee Evans, glitter hair by Heath Salon & Spa, as well as dancing and a champagne toast at midnight to ring in the New Year ll!
“The highlight of the evening was having the opportunity to present the Champion of the Child Award and the Ben Parks Award to two outstanding organizations who are doing great things for kids in our community!“ said Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Texas CEO, Jenny Krueger.
The Champion of the Child Award was awarded to Mac & Cheese and Pancakes, and accepted by Kaden Newton. This award honors a local citizen or organization who has demonstrated through words and actions a commitment to children in our community and who has worked to improve the lives of youth by providing opportunities for children to develop morally, intellectually and physically in order to become productive members of our community.
Kaden has worked to make a difference in the lives of Boys & Girls Club youth by donating bags of kid-friendly food that is easy to prepare that can be sent home with families that are running low on groceries or youth who are without food on the weekends.
Many of the youth we serve have their last meal of the day when they eat snack at the Boys & Girls Club and Kaden is helping us make sure that they are fed at home.
The Ben Parks Award was awarded to Shenaniganz, and was accepted by Parker Coddington. The Ben Parks Award is awarded annually to the individual or individuals who best represent the values that Ben Parks himself displayed. These values include giving back to the community, selflessness, commitment to excellence, a strong moral compass, and striving to reach beyond normal limits to make dreams into reality.
