Local charities to benefit from Dodie’s ‘crawfish cash’ raised at Rockwall Women’s League event

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 17, 2017) Dodie’s Cajun Diner at The Harbor auctioned off not one but two Crawfish Boil Party Packages at the Rockwall Women’s League’s recent Bayou Bash, reeling in a record-setting $13,000 each for the charity event.

“We were overwhelmed by the generous bids in the live auction,” said Mike McRae, co-owner of Dodie’s in Rockwall, who offered up a second Crawfish Boil Party Package upon seeing the crowd’s demand for the first.  “We are truly honored to be part of such generous support for the Rockwall Women’s League and the local nonprofits that the RWL serves.”

Each Crawfish Boil Party Package included 90 pounds of fresh crawfish, five pounds of crawfish seasoning, 50 corn on the cob, 50 new potatoes, four pounds of andouille sausage, two gallons of chicken and sausage jambalaya,  plates, napkins, plastic ware, table coverings, chaffing dishes, two servers, one cook, and six hours for prep, cooking, and clean-up.

“We’d like to give a big shout-out and very special thanks to Shawn and Vida Valk and Gary and Laurie Tipton for purchasing the Crawfish Boil packages and helping to make a difference in our community,” said McRae.

As an event sponsor, Dodie’s served as a regular meeting place for the RWL as the group spent months planning for this annual fundraising gala. The event was April 7 at the Omni Dallas.
