Rockwall ISD Communications Department Shines at TSPRA Conference

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 25, 2019) The Rockwall ISD Communications department recently earned a Crystal Commendation Certificate of Merit, one Best-in-Category Award, eight Gold Star Awards and two Silver Star Awards at the 2019 Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Conference.

“To have the work that we do for the students and community in Rockwall ISD validated with so many awards on a statewide level is phenomenal,” said Chief Communications Officer Renae Murphy. “It’s an incredible feat and accomplishment by our team of communications professionals.”

The Crystal Commendation Certificate of Merit was awarded to Alyssa Suniga and April Guest for the We Love Program. The Best-in-Category award, presented to the Communications Department for the Rockwall ISD’s Got Talent live show from Rockwall ISD’s 2017 Convocation, was deemed the best in state of all submissions in that category. According to one judge, “The best Convocation show I’ve ever seen. Effectively pre-produced in all areas made for great live presentation. Great performances by all on camera talent.”

With a student population of more than 16,000, Rockwall competes in the 10,000-30,000 Students category along with other districts such as: Duncanville ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, Wylie ISD, Pflugerville ISD, Laredo ISD, Waco ISD and more.

TSPRA’s annual Star Awards provide recognition for education communications and projects of its members. Judges evaluate each work and project based on set criteria and they award Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards, as well as Best of Categories, Certificates of Merit, Crystal Commendations and the Platinum Award for an all-encompassing, year-long communications project.
