Rockwall Recognized for Delivering Superior Quality Water to Residents

(ROCKWALL, TX, April 3, 2019) The City of Rockwall Water Department has been recognized for the superior water they provide for residents. At their regular meeting this week, the Rockwall City Council issued a proclamation to honor the department for their excellence. Every three years, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) conducts an in-depth inspection of our city’s local water system. During this year’s evaluation, the TCEQ recognized once again that the processes and procedures utilized to deliver water to Rockwall residents exceeds their testing standards.

Since 2007, the City has maintained a “superior” water rating from the TCEQ. The agency performs an inspection of the system checking 27 items, including facilities, maintenance, recordkeeping and many other criteria. The TCEQ found no violations in their most recent evaluation of Rockwall’s water system. During the evaluation, the TCEQ inspector commented that, “Rockwall has one of the best nitrification plans I’ve ever seen,” and, “I wish every system maintained records as well as Rockwall does.”

The City Council honored the City of Rockwall Water Department employees for their ongoing efforts to benefit the health and wellbeing of residents, by declaring April 1 as Rockwall’s Public Water System Celebration Day. “With the volumes of regulations applicable to public water systems, the accomplishments of the City of Rockwall’s Water department are commendable,” said Mayor Jim Pruitt. “I encourage all citizens to applaud the department’s employees who consistently work to ensure the highest water quality for our community.”
