Royse City ISD Names Principal of Bobby Summers Middle School

(ROYSE CITY, TX — April 9, 2019) The Royse City Independent School District is pleased to announce that Richard Pense has been named principal for Bobby Summers Middle School opening in August 2020. Pense has 23 years in education, 20 years in Royse City ISD and has spent the last four years as principal for Ruth Cherry Intermediate School. He will transition to his new role over the summer and the district will seek to fill the Cherry Intermediate principal position immediately.

“Richard has proven himself as a true leader in education and has a history of building an amazing staff and campus culture. He’s the perfect person to plan for and open Bobby Summers Middle School in 2020 and I look forward to seeing great things from his campus,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy.

Pense holds a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University Commerce. He and his wife Cynthia have two children in Royse City ISD have have been residents of Fate and Royse City since 2004.

About his new role Pense said,”It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead the future Bobby Summers Middle School. It is my mission that the school reflects the many attributes of its namesake and follows the innovative tradition already established in RCISD.  We will advocate for every kid and compete at every level for success.”

About Bobby Summers Middle School

Opening in August 2020, this will become Royse City ISD’s second middle school and will serve students in grades 6-8. The campus is located in Fate, Texas on the corner of Hwy 66 and CD Boren Parkway. Architecturally, the school will boast innovative learning spaces, a secure interior courtyard and community friendly athletic spaces. The mascot will be the bulldogs and colors will be black and gold.
