(ROCKWALL, TX – June 20, 2019) Texas Freemasonry has always been a strong supporter of public education. In fact, many of the state’s earliest schools were built by the Masons. In some instances, a 2‐story building housed the school on the first floor and the Masonic Lodge on the second. East Trinity Lodge has been active in contributing to the success of Rockwall County since 1855.
The first school in Rockwall was built by members of the Lodge. It is with that same dedication to our community and our future that we have been awarding scholarships for more than 30 years to our local seniors. We are pleased to be able to assist these six deserving young people this year as they embark on their academic pursuits.
East Trinity Masonic Lodge scholarship committee members, Douglas Barkley and John Gordy, presented $3,000 awards to Rockwall‐Heath High School seniors, Emmanuelle Harrison and Sacha Braggs.
Rockwall High School seniors, Haley Hyatt, Isaac Peterson, and Amy Nguyen each received a $3,000 award presented by East Trinity Masonic Lodge scholarship committee members, Mrs. Linda Harris and Mr. Ed Wheeler. (Not pictured, but also receiving a scholarship was Kaitlyn Martinez).
Submitted by Douglas Barkley, Scholarship Chairman, East Trinity Masonic Lodge in Rockwall.
