(ROCKWALL, TX – July 23, 2019) Ryan James Roberson went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2019 with his loving family by his side, at the age of 20 years old. He was born August 14, 1998 in San Antonio, Texas to Drew and Helen (Eckert) Roberson.
Ryan graduated from Rockwall-Heath High School in 2017. He was a member of the National Honor Society, PALS Leadership group, Best Buddies, and was an avid baseball player since the age of 5 years old. Ryan pitched for the Heath Hawks and positively impacted the lives of everyone around him with his infectious smile and friendliness. After High School, Ryan went on to pitch at New Mexico Junior College where he made the President’s Honor Roll and maintained a 4.0 average after completing his Freshman year. Ryan loved his teammates and coaches, the rousing fun they had together on trips and games, and the everyday bonding during practice. Ryan had personal goals of receiving his bachelor’s degree and then having a family one day.
Ryan faced his shocking Ewing Sarcoma cancer diagnosis in July 2018 with dignity, bravery, and determination. He savored each moment with family and friends as he courageously fought through 10 months of intense treatment. Ryan made many memories, and even threw out the first pitch for the Texas Rangers in May 2019.
Ryan was our most beloved treasure, and an outstanding son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He profoundly loved his brother Reid and tried to role model life for him. What made Ryan so special was his humility, strength, kindness, positive attitude, and his devotion to his brother and young cousins. Ryan’s ability to love deeply left his friends knowing that they were his good friends.
Ryan will be so missed, but we thank God for giving us the gift of his 20 years, and for giving him hope in Jesus Christ and a place in heaven forever.
Ryan is survived by his mother, Helen Eckert Roberson; his father, Drew Roberson; his brother, Reid Roberson; his grandparents Pete and Judy Eckert; his grandparents James and Janet Roberson; his aunts and uncles Holly Eckert, Lauren Eckert, Randy and wife MariClaire Eckert, Lindsay Eckert Lewis and husband Andy Lewis and Don Roberson. He is also survived by his cousins, Connor, Emerson and Blake Eckert; James, Jackson and Judge Roberson; as well as Brynn, Will and Davis Lewis. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Susan Gay Neblett Dorsett and grandfather James Houston.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
