(HEATH, TX – August 19, 2019) The Heath Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for an 12-week Citizens’ DPS Academy that will begin in September.
Classes will be held at City Hall once a week during the evenings and offer a unique opportunity to learn how the Heath DPS operates differently from traditional departments with officers who are triple-certified as EMS, police and fire professionals.
A view into the inner workings of Heath’s public safety will be provided through classroom instruction and hands-on experience with public safety equipment and vehicles.
“During the Academy, Heath DPS personnel and citizens can build bonds that extend past each participant’s graduation date,” says Chief Terry Garrett. “This is an opportunity to increase communication between the community and our department and foster an ongoing exchange of information and ideas.”
Academy participants must be 18 years of age or older, a high school graduate or have an equivalent education and habe a valid Texas Driver’s License. The application process includes a background check.
For more information or an application, please contact Officer Michael Morgan at mmorgan@heathtx.com or call 972-961-4900.
