Rockwall Music Teachers Association Awards Senior Scholarships

(ROCKWALL, TX – Aug. 24, 2019) Rockwall Music Teachers Association recently awarded a $500 scholarship each to Micaela Hemmer, voice student of Dr. Mary Etta Hobbs and Nicole Vu, piano and chamber music student of Michele McDonald.

Micaela Hemmer’s love is in musical theatre. She has had leading roles in Les Miserable and Big Fish and has participated in numerous other shows. She has also been active in Walk the Line at Rockwall High School. Micaela is attending Stephen F Austin University this fall, where she will be a Vocal Performance major with a minor in Music Therapy.

Nicole (Nikki)Vu has been awarded placements in numerous piano competitions throughout the northeast Texas area. Talented in both piano and violin, Nikki has been part of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra program, the Rockwall High School Orchestra, as well as, being active in chamber music through Michele McDonald’s studio. She has performed both piano and violin in several Piano Trio performances. Nikki is attending Mercer University this fall where she will minor in piano performance while pursuing a degree in biology.
