Suspect in Custody Following Incident at Royse City Wal-Mart

(ROYSE CITY, TX – August 15, 2019) According to the Royse City Police Department:

On August 15, 2019 at approximately 10:15 A.M., a Cumby Police Officer was physically assaulted and the suspect fled in a vehicle westbound I-30.

The suspect in an attempt to elude police wrecked his vehicle in the area of I-30 and Erby Campbell Blvd. The suspect fled on foot to Walmart. Information obtained from the Cumby officer indicated that the suspect was armed with a pistol.

Royse City, Rockwall County Sheriff Deputies, along with DPS Troopers set up a perimeter. Walmart employees and citizens were evacuated from the store. A search of the facility along with the assistance of a Police K-9 found the suspect hiding inside.

The suspect was taken into custody and no citizens or law enforcement were injured. Thank you everyone for your cooperation during this chaotic situation. The public’s safety is always paramount.
