(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 26, 2019) Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County is excited to host its 2nd Annual Gala benefiting the elderly and homebound in Rockwall County.

This year’s  event, themed “Into the Woods,” will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 at the recently restored Boyd Farm, which occupies 2,500 acres of land at 10350 SH 205 in Lavon. Owned by Rockwall’s Joe Katin, the property has undergone significant renovations while maintaining the farm’s historic roots and rustic feel.  Interstate Wire is the presenting sponsor.

“This will be an atmosphere unlike any other and a truly amazing experience for everyone in attendance,” said Maureen Cook, MOWSS Development Director. “More than 400 guests will be treated to an evening of enchantment – dining on exquisite cuisine and enjoying a signature cocktail under a canopy of lights. There will be an amazing silent and live auction, and dancing under the stars.”

Cook added that MOWSS has been  overwhelmed by the community support and enthusiasm for the event.  At the time of this writing, ticket sales and sponsorships are almost sold out.

“We want to thank everyone for your continued support of our mission, to keep the elderly and disabled citizens of Rockwall County living in their homes as long as safely possible through nutritious meals, supportive services and daily human contact,” Cook said.

Executive Director Margie VerHagen reported that in 2019 alone, MOWSS will provide over 65,000 meals to more than 550 seniors and disabled citizens in Rockwall County. Projected numbers suggest that Rockwall County will be home to 22,000 plus seniors by 2020.

“Fundraising events are vital to fulfilling our mission,” said VerHagen.  Purchasing just one ticket to the gala will provide 22 hot meals to local seniors. For tickets, sponsorships, donations, or volunteer opportunities, visit rockwallmealsonwheels.org or call 972-771-9514.
