(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 5, 2019) The JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall, located at 1210 N. Goliad in Rockwall, is currently collecting donations in order to send 200 care packages to military personnel ahead of Thanksgiving. The community is encouraged to stop in with donations and join in on “Packing Day” to help prepare the care packages for shipment.
Among the items still needed are deodorant, shaving cream, Halls cough drops, toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm, hand sanitizer, Starburst, playing cards, Beef Jerky (original), Extra chewing gum, and small containers, and Equate Cool & Heat). A host of special events are planned at the Rockwall YMCA for Veterans Week, Nov. 11-15. Whether you are YMCA member or not, the public is welcome to join in honoring our local veterans by participating in a flag ceremony with the American Legion at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 at the Y. Wear red, white, and blue.
Wednesday night, Nov. 13, is Family Night at the Y. Enjoy a meet-and-greet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with military families.
The care package packing event will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 in the racquetball room.
