Milestone launches free ‘earn-as-you-learn’ trade school program

Milestone, local Dallas-Fort Worth home service company, has introduced a trade school program unlike anything in the DFW Metroplex. During a nine week program, students of ‘Milestone U’ will take classes and participate in ride-alongs with current Milestone HVAC technicians to gain hands-on experience. Once students graduate, they will have obtained their TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) and U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certifications, as well as become an official Milestone HVAC maintenance technician.

The best part? Students of Milestone U will not pay a dime for their education. In addition, the students get paid during their coursework, along with receiving Milestone team member benefits.

“At Milestone, we train our technicians to be more than experts in their field, but also respectful, professional, servant-hearted, and hard-working,” said Gus Antos, co-owner of Milestone. “With Milestone University, we will be able to train future technicians from the ground up in what we call the “Milestone way.”

Milestone hopes to revolutionize the traditional ‘education to workforce’ landscape by providing those new to the trade industry a work-to-learn option. Milestone University will foster real-world experience, all while paying students in the process. Additionally, students will still be getting an education and valued certifications, without ever building up an education debt.

“It is incredible to see that many high schools are beginning to introduce more trade skills programs back into their class options and are encouraging this path, along with college, to their students. We are crafting Milestone U to be a continuation of many students’ passion for hands-on and impactful work” said Antos.

Milestone is hosting a Career Day on Jan. 4 in Garland from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that will include school information and Q&A sessions with HVAC managers, followed by a full interview process. Those selected for the program will be offered a spot at the end of the event.
