The Rockwall Rotary Club recognized Dorris A. Jones Elementary School student Meagan Hatley as its Rotary Student of Honor today. Rotarian Kevin Pate, Executive Vice President of Lakeside National Bank, and Jones Elementary Principal Teresa Twedell presented Meagan with the award at the Noon Rotary’s lunch meeting.
Twedell, who’s been Meagan’s principal since kindergarten, read aloud several messages from Meagan’s teachers, which described the sixth grader as “a natural leader, creative, kind, and responsible.” Meagan is a library helper and has won awards for her artwork and comics. She is a “well-rounded, out of the box thinker and a teacher’s dream.” Twedell added that Meagan “could win a basketball game against anybody in the school, including all the boys.” She also plays soccer.
Meagan is the daughter of Wendy and Eric Hatley.
