Dodie’s Cajun Rockwall expands into Allen

More to love!

You don’t have to go to New Orleans to experience the flavor of the French Quarter. The award-winning, chef-inspired cuisine made famous at Dodie’s at The Rockwall Harbor is now being served up at The Cajun Place in Allen, along with a new name.

Eat, drink, watch a game, listen to music, play pool or arcade games at the new Dodie’s Cajun in Allen.

That’s right, mudbug fans – The Cajun Place has undergone a complete transformation, and its new owners are so sure you’re going to love it, they’re putting their name on it. The nearly 9,000 sq. ft. dining and entertainment venue located next to the Allen Event Center – complete with outdoor patio, music stage, and 40 big screen TVs – will be dubbed Dodie’s Cajun Allen.  That makes two Dodie’s locations for owners Mike McRae and Gabe Nicolella.

Dodie’s Cajun in Allen (formerly The Cajun Place) has a large outdoor patio, located in the Village at Allen.

“We purchased Dodie’s Rockwall eight years ago, with the idea of turning it into something special,” McRae explained.  “We’ve done that, and now we’re doing it in Allen.”

McRae and Nicolella have a proven track record of success in the restaurant business. When they bought Dodie’s Rockwall in 2012 – along with General Manager and now Managing Partner Dan Keils – they set in motion a plan to streamline the Rockwall Dodie’s operation, upgrade the décor, serve excellent Cajun and American cuisine, and pamper guests with impeccable service in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Once perfected, they would seek out an additional location, implement the same processes, and elevate it to the “Dodie’s Cajun standard” – carrying on the tradition they started in Rockwall.

That opportunity presented itself in Allen last year.

There are 40 big screens for game watching at Dodie’s Cajun in Allen.

“We had the opportunity to purchase The Cajun Place, when the original owners were ready to step out of the restaurant business,” explained McRae. “We recognized that the place had a lot of potential and was perfectly situated in the Village at Allen next to the Allen Event Center. We went to work refining the menu and adding a few special touches that helped make our Dodie’s location in Rockwall such a success.”

“It only gets better from here,” added Nicolella, who echoed McRae’s sentiments. “We’re staking our reputation on it.”

“The timing couldn’t be more perfect,” said McRae, noting that the Mardi Gras is right around the corner.  “We welcome everyone to come by Dodie’s Cajun in Allen and see why there’s more to love!”
