RISD suspends in-person classes, continues online campus learning through April 3

Message to Rockwall ISD families, sent March 17, 2020:

Rockwall Parents,

In support of the national effort by the Centers for Disease Control to mitigate COVID-19, Rockwall ISD will take the following actions:

  • Rockwall ISD suspends In-Person Classes but will continue Online Campus Learning through April 3. Again, students are to remain at home and continue with Online Campus Learning through April 3. As yesterday’s parent email message stated, Online Campus Learning will begin this Wednesday, March 18, and will now continue through April 3. Don’t forget that an email message from our Curriculum & Instruction Department will be sent to parents Wednesday at 8 am.
  • Free Student Meal Program will continue through April 3. Free student lunches that began yesterday will continue to be distributed Monday – Friday, 11 am-1 pm at Rochell Elementary School and Dobbs Elementary School through April 3.
  • All activities and facilities closed. All activities, including athletic practices, and District facilities are closed through April 3.

We recognize the difficulty this decision may cause families. It hurts our hearts that students are not in our schools, but we know it is the best decision for all.  As this situation continues to evolve, we will communicate to provide concise information based on the most current guidance from our local, state, and federal health authorities.

Please know that the return date of Monday, April 6, could change as we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19. We are confident that our Rockwall ISD family is resilient, strong, and will overcome this challenge.

Our print edition is delivered free to ~15,500 homes in Rockwall and Heath, TX.
