(ROCKWALL, TX – March 24, 2020) At their Monday night monthly Board of Trustees meeting, the Rockwall ISD Board members approved postponing the May 2, 2020, local election for at-large board seats Place 6 and Place 7 to the November 3, 2020 general election.
A proclamation issued by Texas Governor Greg Abbott on March 18, 2020, allows governmental subdivisions the authority to postpone the May 2 election date to November 3, 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19. Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees exercised this authority with the action taken at their monthly board meeting.
While the election has been postponed, the candidate filing period will not re-open.
Important dates for the November election include:
- Voter registration deadline – October 5, 2020
- Deadline to submit an application for ballot by mail – October 23, 2020
- Dates for early voting – October 19, 2020 – October 30, 2020
