Rockwall ISD extends Spring Break as Coronavirus precaution

In an email message to parents today, Rockwall ISD wrote:

(March 12, 2020) Dear Rockwall ISD  Parents,

In light of rapidly changing developments across the state regarding COVID-19, Rockwall ISD will extend Spring Break through Friday, March 20. While a case of Coronavirus COVID-19 has not been confirmed in Rockwall County, the additional week is an effort to mitigate any potential spread of the virus.

Beginning Friday, March 13, no extracurricular or UIL activities will take place until further notice. In addition, all staff and student travel will be suspended until further notice.  These unprecedented measures were made after consultation with state and local officials with the safety and well-being of our students and families of Rockwall ISD in mind.

At this time, students and staff will return to school on Monday, March 23.  More details will be forthcoming in the days ahead. Updates will be communicated to parents/staff and posted on our district website at www.rockwallisd.com

Our print edition is delivered free to ~15,500 homes in Rockwall and Heath, TX.
