(ROCKWALL, TX) – The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to the Texas Health Hospital Rockwall laboratory based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.
“The CAP accreditation is the gold standard in laboratory accreditation,” said Clinnis Adams, MBA MT, Laboratory Director. “And I am proud that our hospital is one of 8,000 laboratories to be included and recognized for providing the highest standard of care for all patients.”
The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
Texas Health Rockwall’s Senior Director of Quality and Risk, Kerry Baucom who recognized the teamwork involved stated, “Clinnis Adams and Dr. Nicholas Feliciano have pulled together an incredible team focused on the goal of transitioning to a CAP accredited lab a smooth and seamless process. The successful outcome is a result of many months of hard work by all.”
The hospital just began a $91 million expansion, which will include expansion and renovation of the existing hospital laboratory allowing for greater efficiency in providing care and critical services for the hospital and community.
