Dallas Sidekicks help out long-time fans after their car was vandalized

April 23, 2020 – Dallas, TX – The Dallas Sidekicks know what it feels like to have a vehicle broken into, so when it happened to long-time season ticket holders Pat and Tommy Nichols, the team knew it had to help fast.

Back on February 19 the Sidekicks (the professional indoor soccer team of the Major Arena Soccer League headquartered in Allen at the Allen Event Center) had traveled to Southern California to play against the Ontario Fury. While the team was eating their customary pre-game meal together the team bus was broken into. Uniforms, equipment, and personal belongings were stolen from the bus and the team had to borrow uniforms, shoes and other equipment to play later that evening.

Flash forward two months and the world is a very different place and the emotions of being “violated” are even more pronounced. When Dallas Sidekicks Manager of Sales Scott Wegener saw on Facebook that long time Sidekicks season ticket holders and super-fans Pat and Tommy Nichols van was broken into, he immediately told the rest of the front office and coaching staff. As soon as the message reached head coach Simon Bozas, he immediately agreed to pay for the vandalization including the broken windows.

“Our Sidekicks season ticket holders are like family,” says Paul Donaghy, Director of Sales and Marketing. “When we heard one of our owns vehicle was broken into, we truly felt the impact, especially since it had just happened to us just over a month before. I’m grateful to work for an organization that is so involved in the community and steps up in times like this. I really appreciate what our coach did to make this situation right.”

Sidekicks Director of Soccer Operations Jesse Llamas had a check cut and hand delivered it while practicing social distancing. “It felt really good to brighten our fans day and show how much the Sidekicks care about our fans,” Llamas said after the delivery. “All of our fans are important to the organization and honestly our fans really helped our players out when we had our personal belongings stolen starting a go fund me campaign, so to be part of a pay-it-back situation like this was very special.”

Pat Nichols was delighted at the Sidekicks gesture writing, “I want to thank you so very much for your generosity and kindness. I am so grateful and ever so thankful for such wonderful friends of a fabulous team. Tommy and I are so grateful for the ‘Sidekicks’ team, (and) staff. We are looking forward to another season getting together again.”
