Message from our publisher about Senior Spotlights

(ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX – April 21, 2020) As many of our readers probably know, Blue Ribbon News launched a Senior Spotlight Series last month to shine the spotlight on graduating seniors in our community who are missing their end-of-high-school experience, highlighting their achievements and future plans. We’ve featured hundreds of  students from Rockwall ISD, Royse City ISD, Heritage Christian Academy and home schoolers – and we do our best with our limited team to feature each and every one as submissions continue to pour in.

As our followers know, we live here, work here, and we dedicate ourselves to serving this community, and these students are like family. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to honor these young adults in Blue Ribbon News, and we take great care with every post – so thank you!

In light of some concerns raised regarding an adopt-a-senior facebook group that invites ‘adoptees’ to choose a senior to adopt and send gifts to, we wanted to clarify that this group is not affiliated with our Senior Spotlight Series. The Rockwall ISD also posted that they’ve received questions if the district or individual schools were affiliated with the adopt-a-senior program and they stated that they are not involved in this effort.

We hope all seniors have an opportunity to be highlighted this year. Blue Ribbon News looks forward to recognizing each and every one, so if you haven’t submitted yet, we welcome you to send a photo, bio and what your student’s future plans or goals may be, to editor@blueribbonnews.com. If you are sharing a professional photo, please let us know so we can give proper photo credit. If you have any questions or story ideas, just let us know; we’re happy to share your #RealGoodNews!

Respectfully,

Dawn Redig, Blue Ribbon News
