Senior Spotlight: Cole McMahan, Rockwall High School

Senior Spotlight: Cole McMahan, Rockwall High School

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 5, 2020) Cole McMahan, Senior at Rockwall High School, will be attending Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma.  Cole will be a scholarship athlete for the Crimson Storm, playing the same position he played for the 2019 State Semifinalist Rockwall Yellowjackets for the past two years as a starter, middle linebacker.

Cole will be majoring in Marketing while at Southern Nazarene and was just recently awarded 1 of 22 places for the Southern Nazarene Honors Program.  Cole was called up to the RHS Varsity Football team by Coach Rodney Webb midway through his Sophomore season and earned a starting position as a Junior that he did not relinquish until the final second ticked off the clock in his last game in the UIL State Semifinals.

Cole was awarded with post season awards for District 11-6A All District honors both his Junior and Senior years.  Cole is a hard hitting linebacker that will not only make tough tackles, but was also known for taking on Offensive Lineman weighing 290+ pounds and putting them on their back with frequency.  Cole played the game of football behind the offensive line of scrimmage taking the game to them rather than waiting.

In addition to playing football, Cole was a member of the Rockwall High School Yellowjacket Baseball team as a Freshman. Cole was very active in the Rockwall/Heath Chapter of the Young Men’s Service League.  Cole served on the philanthropy committee as a Sophomore and was the Vice President  of boys meetings his junior and senior year. He served different philanthropies such as Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Arms of Hope, Dallas Life, and Rockwall County Helping Hands toy distribution.  Cole would often take friends and relatives with him to visit his friends on a Meals on Wheels delivery where he would introduce them and sit for a while and talk about school, football or whatever his MOW friends wanted to talk about.  Sometimes, a delivery would take a “little longer” than usual because they would get to talking or laughing.

Cole is currently working at Lowe’s Hardware in Rockwall and will continue to work there as long as he can.  Cole loves his God, family and his country.  While he misses seeing his friends, he will have lasting memories with them.  Cole, while upset he will miss his Prom and possibly his graduation ceremony, has kept an attitude that everything happens for a reason and that no matter what, God is in control and nothing about the current situation surprised Him!  Proverbs 3:5-6
