Senior Spotlight: Lily Garcia, Royse City High School

Lily Garcia is a senior at Royse City High School where she is involved in theatre, debate, choir, and IGNITE. During her senior year, Lily has shown amazing leadership skills as a thespian officer, Laughing Llamas improv troupe manager, and debate team captain.

She starred as Miss Hannigan in RCHS’s production of Annie, and directed Over the River and Through the Woods which performed at the Texas Thespians State Festival this year. Some of the highlights of her high school theatre career include Juliet in Before Juliet, The Wicked Witch in Shrek the Musical, Grace in Radium Girls, and Sarah Carson in Passing Through. Lily also won the All-Star Cast award for her role as Mrs. Shandig in The Runner Stumbles at the UIL One-Act Play contest this year. Last year, Lily made the UIL State Honor Crew.

Her awards for senior year also include qualifying for the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Albuquerque, NM, qualifying for the State UIL choir solo competition, and she was recognized as a RCHS 2020 Top Dog. Top Dog students represent the Best of Royse City High School and are nominated based on their achievements in academics, extra-curricular, clubs/organizations, including community service and leadership.

Lily has been awarded an Academic Scholarship at the University of North Texas where she will major in Education with plans to become an English teacher. Her English teachers have impacted her education and inspired her.

Lily also plans to pursue a minor in Theatre since she has such a passion and love for the stage.
