Dawn to Dusk: Full Day of Fun, Food & Festivities on July 3

(ROCKWALL, TX – June 12, 2020) Downtown Rockwall merchants are excited to announce they’re officially getting back to business by hosting the first community event since the COVID-19 pandemic forced many stores and restaurants to close their doors or limit normal activities.  On Friday, July 3, the downtown square will open up for a full day of food, fun, shopping, games and a dance party with live music by none other than Emerald City Band.

From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the DOWNTOWN DAYCATION celebration welcomes the community to enjoy shopping downtown businesses (until 6 p.m.), a live DJ, 9-hole mini golf, lawn games, interactive instructional demos for all ages, and luxury lounge areas. Folks can also participate in a Cornhole Tournament sponsored by the Young Professionals of Rockwall. Registration for the tournament can be found at rockwallchamber.org.

Food trucks will line Kaufman Street to provide eats and treats, and downtown restaurants will be open to serve. Among the food trucks will be Waffle O’licious, Doe Belly’s, Popcorn Pappa, Yummy Pizza, Yummy BBQ and others to be announced.

Emerald City has shared the stage with such artists as Martina McBride, Michael McDonald, Hewy Lewis and the News, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Maria Cary, Dan Aykroyd, Sinbad, and the list goes on and on.

“It is important as a city that our resident enjoy the amenities and quality of life that they moved here to experience,” said Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt. “It is our responsibility as City leaders to allow our citizens to determine what’s best for their families and themselves without government controlling their lives.”

He added, “Our parks and other facilities are open for you to enjoy and our great businesses that weathered this crisis are open and ready to serve you.”

This is an outdoor event therefore no health protocols are required. However, individual businesses may have requirements you will need to follow upon entering. Those who have minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, or been exposed to someone that has, are asked to please protect yourself and others by staying home.

Thank you for shopping local and supporting downtown businesses.
