(ROCKWALL, TX — June 9, 2020) Pool time is back at the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall! The Rockwall Y will begin offering swim lessons to families on June 15th.
The decision to re-open swimming lessons comes from the guidance of the CDC, which states that it is safe to swim as the COVID-19 virus cannot be spread in properly chlorinated and maintained pool water. The YMCA pool meets the health standards set by the CDC.
In order to ensure the health and safety of members and visitors, swim lessons at the Y will be hosted in groups. For the remainder of the lesson, groups will maintain a safe social distance from other groups, with participants attempting to remain at fingertip length apart during the lesson.
Along with daily staff health screenings and temperature checks, swim instructors will wear face coverings and make every effort to keep you and your child feel as safe and comfortable as possible.
“Knowing how to swim is an important life skill that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. That’s why we have decided to start back swimming lessons and give that much needed service to families,” said Rockwall YMCA Aquatics Director Myron Barron.
The Rockwall Y offers swim lessons for all ages and abilities, helping to build self-confidence and remain safe around the water. For more information and to register for lessons visit www.ymcadallas.org/locations/jerchiltonymca.
