City of Rockwall Mayoral Declaration in Response to Governor’s Order (7/2/2020)

ROCKWALL, TX – July 2, 2020 – MAYORAL DECLARATION

WHEREAS, on July 2, 2020, Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order GA29, which mandates the wearing of a face mask to cover the nose and the mouth when in an outdoor space, whenever it is not feasible to maintain 6 feet of social distancing between oneself and another person (not from the same household);

and WHEREAS, it is feasible to maintain 6 feet of social distancing from one another (not in the same household) at Harry Myers Park, the public area at The Harbor, the outside public areas in downtown Rockwall, and along the 4th of July Parade route.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM PRUITT, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ROCKWALL, DO HEREBY DECLARE THAT:

Section 1. Areas within the City of Rockwall generally located at Harry Myers Park, the public area at The Harbor, the outside public areas in downtown Rockwall, and along the 4th of July Parade route are not covered under Executive Order GA-29 because it is feasible to maintain 6 feet of social distancing from one another; and

Section 2. As authorized by Governor Greg Abbott’s Proclamation dated July 2, 2020, the areas listed in Section 1 above are permitted to have outdoor gatherings in excess of 10 people.
