COVID-19 Update from City of Rowlett (7/8/2020)

From the City of Rowlett

ROWLETT, TX – July 8, 2020 – The first chart  illustrates confirmed COVID-19 case counts numbers as of 7pm Tuesday, July 7 (the total case counts in the county, age, and gender sections of the table only add up to 262 because we are still working on obtaining information for one).

Dallas County continues to see record high numbers of COVID-19 inpatients, with 756 COVID-19 patients in acute care for the period ending Monday, July 6. This daily total is close to 100 more than the previous daily number of inpatient cases. Additionally, the number of emergency room visits for COVID-19 like symptoms in Dallas County continues to be high, with 604 emergency room visits in the 24 hour period ending Monday, July 6. This represents 30% of all emergency department visits in Dallas County according to information reported to the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council. These numbers continue to put tremendous strain on our health care facilities and providers.

Rowlett will continue to alert the public about any new cases, but will restrict information to age range and gender as it is available. Please visit www.Rowlett.com/COVID-19 (https://bit.ly/38Kzli9) for more information, how to get tested, closures and the measures instituted to help protect our community.

Please stay home and stay safe. Stay vigilant when you must go out – wear a face covering, maintain the six feet of social distancing from others not in your group and, most importantly, wash your hands often. These measures are critical not only to slow the spread and protect people’s lives, but also to protect our economy from further closures and to prevent compromising the other health care services we need across the state.
