Rockwall police seek home security video footage, tips, after thefts from vehicles

From the Rockwall Police Department

ROCKWALL, TX (July 10, 2020) During the overnight hours between Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10, 2020, the Rockwall Police Department responded to a call from a resident in the Hickory Ridge subdivision off of South SH 205. The caller observed several subjects opening unlocked vehicles and after confronting them through a remote camera, the subjects ran away on foot.

A few hours later, dispatch fielded a similar call in the Loftland Farms Subdivision off of SH 276. Officers responded to the area after both calls but were unable to locate any individuals.

This morning, may people in both neighborhoods awoke to find their vehicles had been rummaged through and items were stolen from several vehicles. The Rockwall Police Department is committed to patrolling alleyways and neighborhoods to curb this type of criminal activity, but this event serves as a good reminder to take simple steps to remove valuables from your cars and lock your vehicles when unattended.

Residents in these areas are encouraged to review home security video and if footage is found of potential suspects, please call the Rockwall Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 972-772-6777.
