State Fair of Texas announces revised 2020 Livestock Market Show Schedule

DALLAS, TX (July 21, 2020) With agriculture as one of the foundational pillars of its organization, the State Fair of Texas proudly announced a preliminary revised 2020 livestock market show schedule. Although the 2020 State Fair of Texas is canceled due to the current landscape related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fair is committed to offering youth livestock participation opportunities in a safe environment for our exhibitors and staff, to carry-on our nonprofit mission of promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement.

The State Fair of Texas looks forward to offering youth livestock market events, even in this unprecedented environment of COVID-19. The revised 2020 livestock market show schedule* will be spread out over 10 days, between September 23 and October 2 in Fair Park, concluding with the annual Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction on Friday, October 2, 2020:

The revised 2020 livestock show schedule features events that we have the capability to execute safely, while still maintaining the traditional level of quality of a State Fair of Texas livestock show. With our exhibitor’s health and safety as our number one priority, the State Fair will implement all preventive measures recommended by the CDC and other relevant health agencies for these events.

In addition to being woven into the fabric of the State Fair – agriculture has always been a fundamental feature of the Lone Star State and its history. Whether you are a tried-and-true Texan, or a friendly neighbor to our state, we invite you to join us virtually for these livestock shows and contests – livestreamed on BigTex.com/Livestock. You just might learn something new, while showing your support for our hardworking Texas youth. The future of Texas agriculture is brighter than ever, which is why we are investing in the remarkable young men and women who compete in these shows and contests through the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and Big Tex Scholarship Program. In 2019, the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction raised a record $1.3 million in scholarships and prizes on auction day alone, and the grand champion market steer sold for a record $155,000. In addition to other contest and auction-related awards, all participants are eligible for a $6,000 Youth Livestock Scholarship to put towards their college education.

The 2021 State Fair of Texas is scheduled to run Friday, September 24 through Sunday, October 17 in historic Fair Park – we look forward to returning to our roots with a traditional livestock show schedule then.
