ROCKWALL, TX (September 9, 2020) The City of Rockwall was recently informed that a long-term care facility has reported a number of positive COVID-19 cases. The Rockwall Nursing Care Center has had 19 residents and 7 staff members test positive for the virus this week.

In following state guidelines, the nursing home, located at 206 Storrs Street, was testing residents and staff to begin allowing for limited visitation in the center. Among residents, there are 16 active cases, and there have been 7 staff cases. There have been 3 fatalities reported. According to the nursing center, active and recovered positive cases have been reported as mostly asymptomatic. Due to the current cases, the nursing center has halted admissions.

The Rockwall Nursing Center has previously tested their residents and staff, and experienced no positive tests until now. The Texas Department of Health and Human Services has been on site recently to assist the Center in evaluating protocols, and no changes were warranted. Both the City of Rockwall and Rockwall County will continue to offer support to the facility’s response efforts.
