Celebration of Life: Services for Christine Horton Mooney of Rockwall

ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 14, 2020 – Christine Horton Mooney, 93, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on October 13, 2020. She was born to Oscar Horton and Bula Virgie (Tucker) Horton, on December 12, 1926, in Rockwall, Texas. Christine was faithful to 1st Baptist Church of Rockwall, and a resident of Rockwall for the entirety of her life.

Christine, along with her husband, owned and operated Bootsburgers. Growing up she and her sister, Inez, worked at the Soda Shop, located inside the drug store, on the square. Being a long-time resident and business owner in Rockwall, she was well known and well-loved by her community. Christine loved animals and enjoyed crocheting and tending to the flowers in her garden. Her biggest love was being a mother and a grandmother, her grandchildren knew her as Mamaw. Christine will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know her.

Christine is survived by her children: Robert Mooney, David Mooney, John Mooney, and Darla (Mooney) Bailey; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence “Boots” Mooney; parents, Oscar and Bula Virgie Horton; sisters: Inez Brandon and Irene Sedivy; and brother William Horton.

Funeral services are to be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2020, in Reflections at Rest Haven-Rockwall Location. A gathering of loved ones will take place the evening prior to the service on Friday, October 16, 2020, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in The Gathering at Rest Haven. As an alternative to flowers, you may donate to the American Heart Association.
