Still time to adopt ducks for Rockwall’s virtual Duck Pluck this Friday

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 26, 2020) The Virtual Duck Pluck, presented by Southwest Kia-Rockwall, is 2020 duck season’s answer to celebrating safely during a pandemic while raising funds to benefit the Rockwall branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas.

Duck “adoptions” are underway at, where you can “adopt” a duck (or a whole flock of ducks!) for an opportunity to win quacktastic prizes. The cost is only $5 per duck, or get a Quack Pack of five for $20. A Derby Dozen (14 ducks) is $50.

COVID-19 may have halted plans for the traditional duck race (shown here), but the cause continues with the VIRTUAL DUCK PLUCK! Photo by Blue Ribbon News.
Different from years past, this virtual event will NOT include an actual rubber duck race down the fountain at the Rockwall Harbor, but instead will feature a live stream of the rubber duck mascot “plucking” the winners.

Each duck adoption will be assigned a number, which will correspond to a number on a baby rubber duck. (Note: Duck adopters will not actually receive a duck…and no ducks are harmed in the creation of this quacky event!)

On Friday, October 30, via Facebook Live, the rubber duck mascot will wade through all of the adopted ducks to “pluck” THREE lucky-duck winners! Winners will be announced LIVE on Facebook and then contacted to claim their prize.

Did you know?

During the COVID-19 crises, the Rockwall Boys & Girls Club shut their doors to in-person programming and OPENED their program model to:

  • Serve over 5,000 free meals
  • Provide virtual programming with over 75,000 views
  • Execute over 3,000 wellness calls on club families and kids

The Rockwall Boys & Girls Club is opening at a NEW location! That’s right, duckies! Look for them at the old Children’s Learning Center on Goliad Street in October!

“This event, and the mission of the Boys & Girls Club, cannot succeed with you and the generous support of our community. Starting Tuesday, September 15, let’s all flock together to adopt all of the duckies. Our kids need us now, and the funds this event raises, more than ever,” said Kara McLeroy, Director of Development, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Texas. “The more you buy, the greater good you do AND the more opportunities to win. So load up, duckies, and let’s get ready for a #quackyquarantine event!”
