Rockwall YMCA seeks help to provide Thanksgiving groceries to seniors in need

ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 17, 2020 – The J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall needs the community’s help to to provide Thanksgiving groceries to seniors in need in our community. The Y has partnered with Meals on Wheels Seniors Services of Rockwall County to identify several elderly clients who might not otherwise have what they need to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast, and they have ten more seniors left to serve.

YMCA members and members of the community are encouraged to stop by the Y’s Welcome Center and choose a turkey (or two) from the YMCA’s Senior Giving Tree. Bring your turkey ornament to any of the Y’s Membership Service Representatives. Provide your name and contact information. Return the requested grocery items on Monday, Nov. 23 for distribution.

The YMCA, whose mission is to put Christian values into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all, does not turn anyone away from participating in Y programs due to inability to pay. “We are a family here, and families help each other – especially when it comes to the elderly, who are among the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Clint Elliott, District Executive Director at the JER Chilton YMCA.

The JER Chilton YMCA is located at 1210 N. Goliad in Rockwall. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
